Purpose of the Workshop
With the advent of new technologies at
the nanoscales, one major challenge is to develop
micro- and nanodevices capable to control, transport
and dissipate heat in a very efficient way. Understanding from first principles
and from nonlinear dynamics simulations the microscopic mechanisms that
can be implemented to control heat and charge flows might prove useful in
the design and engineering of new thermoelectric devices with high
thermo-electric efficiency. The purpose of this Workshop at the interface of
material science and nonlinear dynamics is to bring together researchers with
different backgrounds to discuss the most recent developments in heat and charge
transport in artificial systems at the nanoscales.
The Workshop will serve as a forum to promote a free exchange of ideas as
well as to foster international collaborations on this emerging topic of
nanotechnology
